Stopping by one of the entertainment stages at Seattle Pride 2005, music fans were treated to the acoustic rock/pop of the Sue Quigley Band, whose EP of the same name has laid the groundwork for their upcoming full-length CD coming soon down the pipeline.
The six track EP features the ultra-tight band and top-notch singer/songwriter Sue Quigley performing original songs such as “Naked Heart,” “Waiting” and “What You’re Looking For.”
If Sue Quigley isn’t all that well known yet, one hopes it will only be a matter of time before she becomes one of those constantly touring, much beloved musicians with a national fanbase, eagerly awaited by passionately devoted groups of admirers in little towns and big cities across the country. (Think Michelle Malone or Doria Roberts). Her songs are like a good bottle of Pinot Grigio: medium-bodied, complex, crisp yet elegant, and harvested at optimal maturity. The band pulls every song together like they’ve been playing for decades, though in truth they are fairly new new to the spotlight.
On “Naked Heart” the finely-tuned lyrics: “…what made the ship go down? Well it just went down, without a trace, like the last I saw of love on your face” demonstrate Quigley’s ability to write for every woman who has ever loved and lost. But the Sue Quigley Band EP is not about loss as much as it’s about living life.
Real, honest, and universally accessible, Sue Quigley Band touches on something that everyone has experienced, and does so in a solidly enjoyable way. Good music, good listening.
